The Health care sector today is confronted by several challenges:

  • Scientific and technological frontiers expand at unprecedented rates
  • Innovations in diagnostics, treatments and pharmaceuticals support improvements in the population's health

Longer and healthy life, however, will lead to a higher portion of older generations in the population in the coming decades.
Together with decreasing birth rates - in particular in western industrialized countries - the financial stability of the whole health system becomes questionable. Hence, clinics, practitioners and insurance companies are searching for cost savings and efficiency gains.
Despite reforms improving competition in the health care sector, product and process innovation will play an increasingly key role. All core activities for providing medical services - Medical workflows (e.g. 'Clinical pathways'), procurement, accounting and controlling (incl. calculation of Diagnostics Related Groups - DRG) or documentation and information of patient records - will rely on innovative and advanced telecom/IT facilities. Furthermore, as demonstrated by best practices in other industries (automotive or mechanical engineering) IT/telecommunications will support the effective interworking of the different players - hospitals, practitioners, insurance companies and last but not least the patients.

Our Practice

Our health care practice enjoys a broad experience of pioneering new concepts and formulating novel business strategies.

This tradition began in the 1990s, when our work on telemedicine concepts helped to define an approach to health care delivery by telecommunications support that broke the compromise between cost effectiveness and improved outcomes. It has continued through our comprehensive examination of the future of the impact of changing technologies on business realities and strategy in the health care industry. Today it is manifest in our exploration of how IT/telecommunications can improve workflows in the health care sector and its core activities.

Our base of clients includes institutions across the entire spectrum of the health care industry, in particular medical service providers, clinics and practitioners, industry partners and governmental institutions. Whether working with technology players, national health systems, managed care organizations, academic medical centres, or hospitals, we share with all our clients the same deep insights into the health care business and the same commitment to excellent results.
